Biochemistry in the winter semester is focused on explaining of more complicated biochemical conversion (e. g. metabolism of glycoproteins, proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycan, lipoproteins, nucleoproteins, tetrapyrrols etc.), thechangesaccompanyingagingof cells (cartilage), and on metabolites related to the function of an organ (skeletal muscle, myocardium, liver, kidney, gastrointestinaltract, brain).
The acquired knowledge is applied in special chapters dealing with the conversion of essential nutrients in ruminants, poultry, fish, referring to metabolic problems and their causes.
